An original vintage still life painting circa 1940 from Belgium.

Set within a decorative wooden frame, this striking oil on canvas has been painted in neutral, earthy tones and depicts a rustic still life arrangement comprising of a pottery jug, glass, decanter, potato's and the most wonderful copper pan.

Still lifes such as this were a popular subject among European artists of the early 20th century, capturing simple domestic objects and showcasing ordinary items found within the home.

Ready to hang within the home it is signed by the artist, Bertha Lombet to the lower right. Bertha was an early 20th century artist, from
Wanfercée-Baulet, a town in Belgium.
