For years, I built my career in the financial services industry, following the traditional path of office life. But, when the world paused during COVID. like most, I found myself re-evaluating what truly mattered. I realised that working a 9-to-5 job —I wanted something more fulfilling, something I was truly passionate about.
Antiques have always been a part of my life. My grandparents owned an antique shop in Oswestry, and my parents ran their own in Shrewsbury. Growing up, I spent time at auctions and in their shops, surrounded by traditional antiques, fine art, china, and jewellery. I always appreciated these pieces, but it wasn’t until I bought my own home that I truly understood their value.
Flat-pack furniture may be cheap and convenient, but it doesn’t last. Antiques, on the other hand, are well-made, full of character, and built to stand the test of time. They offer something modern furniture often lacks—quality and longevity.
This understanding led to the creation of Jennings & Cox (a combination of my married and maiden names). Today, I run the business alongside my parents’ venture, The Old Yard, sharing a showroom and workshop in Oswestry, Shropshire.
At Jennings & Cox, my goal is simple: to bring the past into the present, curating antiques that aren’t just decorative, but functional, durable, and designed to be lived with and loved. Whether you're drawn to antiques for their history, their quality, or their sustainability, I hope you find something in our collection that speaks to you.
