A 19th century Victorian pine storage chest with its original painted scumble finish, fitted with a hinged lid which opens to reveal internal storage.

The chest retains its original painted scumble finish, a decorative technique commonly used in the Victorian period to imitate more expensive woods such as oak on pine furniture.

A versatile storage piece, the chest can be used in a hallway or boot room, placed at the foot of a bed as a blanket box, or used in a living room as a coffee table with storage.

Width 79 cm x Depth 48 cm x Height 39 cm

Condition

In good antique condition with wear and tear appropriate for age and use to include age related knocks and scuffs. There is an old split to the top of the lid as shown in photographs. May display signs of historic woodworm which is no longer active and will have been retreated as a precaution.
