19th Century Antique French Painted Cupboard

A decorative painted pine cupboard from 19th century France.

This striking piece features a single drawer over a central cupboard door, opening to reveal fixed internal shelving.

Handpainted throughout, the decoration is bold and detailed, with the eye drawn to the central panel where a pair of birds are shown among the branches of a maple tree.

A distinctive example of painted folk furniture.

Width 83 cm x Depth 35 cm x Height 120 cm

In good antique condition with wear and tear appropriate for age and use to include age related knocks, scuffs and splits to the wood. Repair done to a split in the wood to the inside of the door (in photos). May display signs of historic woodworm which is no longer active and would have been retreated as a precaution.
