Large Rustic French Rillette Pot, 19th Century

SKU: JC0999

A beautifully rustic stoneware pot from 19th century rural France.

Featuring a soft glazed finish and sturdy carrying handle.

Known as rillette or confit pots, pieces such as this would have originally been used to preserve slow-cooked meats such as duck and rabbit by filling the top of the pot with a layer of solid fat.

Perfect for use as a planter or for holding utensils - great for rustic farmhouse décor.
